A delegation from Latrobe visited Taizhou

On the invitation by the Taizhou Municipal People's Government, Sharon Gibson, Mayor of Latrobe, Australia, led a friendly delegation composed of 27 people and visited Taizhou on July 6 and they will stay in Taizhou till July 9. Besides governmental officials, a youth orchestra consisting of 17 students is following the delegation to conduct performance and exchange.

 

Sharon Gibson said that Latrobe and Taizhou have mutually sent delegations to conduct cultural and art exchanges for many times, gaining sound effects in promoting understanding and publicizing culture of Australia and China, and benefiting citizens of Latrobe and Taizhou with achievements of friendly communication.

 

In addition, an Australian garden, invested by the parliament of Latrobe with AUD 70,000 and built in Tiande Lake Garden in memory of the 10th anniversary of the sister city relation between Latrobe and Taizhou, was officially completed in October, 2012 and an opening ceremony will be held in Tiande Lake Park on July 8.

 

The amicable contact between Latrobe and Taizhou began in May, 1998. The 2 cities officially established international sister city relation in March, 2000. Latrobe is the 2nd international sister city with which Taizhou has formed relation since it founded prefecture-level city in 1996. In 14-year communication, the delegations of 2 cities often conducted exchanges to consolidate friendly relation, steadily carrying out substantive exchanges in the educational, cultural, health and economic fields.
