Overview: Latrobe is located in the east of Victoria, Australia, 150 kilometers west of Melbourne. Founded in 1994, Latrobe County was rebuilt into a city in March, 2000, governing 4 central cities and 7 small towns. It covers an area of 1,426 square kilometers, with a population of about 74,000. Convenient transportation, highways, railways, airports are all readily available. With rich resources, Latrobe’s agriculture, animal husbandry, dairy products, forestry, papermaking, coal mining, power generation and other industries occupy important positions in the whole country. Its power generation accounts for more than 90% of the State of Victoria. Its lignite production accounts for 89% of Australia. Latrobe has developed basic education and vocational education. Monash University, located in Latrobe, is one of the best universities in Australia. In addition, many major domestic and international sporting events were often held in Latrobe, such as the Victoria Junior Tennis Championships.
