Taizhou city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, is blessed with lakes and broad and winding rivers – making it the perfect place for birds to rest, survive the winter, as well as to thrive and flourish.

Spring: Black-winged stilts

Endowed with a slim body and long red legs, these avian "supermodels" are more likely to appear in wetland areas like lakes, swamps and shallow waterways. [Photo/WeChat ID: tztour]

Summer: Kingfishers

These small but agile creatures are much-admired for their emerald feathers and bright eyes. They're frequently seen amid the reeds on the banks of the Fengcheng River and on the grass of the People's Park. [Photo/WeChat ID: tztour]

Autumn: Little grebes

As a small kind of diving bird, the color of the feathers of little grebes changes with the turn of the seasons. They fascinate bird watchers because they quickly hide themselves below the water in the face of danger. [Photo/WeChat ID: tztour]

Winter: Cygnus columbianus

Flocks of this smaller variety of elegant swan were recently observed flying all the way to Taizhou from Siberia. They'll return to the Arctic Circle in August of the following year. [Photo/WeChat ID: tztour]
