Taizhou officials inspect work safety in run-up to holiday

With the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Holiday around the corner, top officials in Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – led by city Party secretary Zhu Lifan and Mayor Wan Wenhua – conducted pre-holiday safety production inspections on the afternoon of Sept 26. 

They emphasized that all departments of local Party committees and the local government must prioritize the lives of people and their safety, intensify special inspections and rectification of major accidents and hazards – and comprehensively develop a sound safety supervision system. 

They also emphasized the need for officials at all levels to shoulder their responsibilities for safe production and to ensure social harmony and stability.

During his visit to manufacturers Rayard Wood Industry Co Ltd and Jiangsu Nanji Machinery Co Ltd, Zhu visited their workshops and fire control centers.

He emphasized that the companies must firmly establish the concept of safe development, always keep worst-case scenarios in mind, enhance an awareness of preventing potential risks and prioritize safety production. 

At the Taixing Sports Center, Zhu called on the organizers to further boost their safety awareness and incorporate safety concepts throughout the entire process of preparation for the cultural events during the holiday – as well as improve emergency response plans.

For her part, Mayor Wan Wenhua visited Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Co Ltd and carefully examined the implementation of the company's safe production measures. Safety production should be a top priority and strict inspections and rectification of safety risks and hazards should be carried out, she added.

Wan also visited Chenxin Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co Ltd. She called on the company to strengthen employee awareness of work safety, focus on safe production details and improve emergency response plans.
