Taizhou authorities completed all 40 projects for the well-being of locals in 2024, effectively addressing several pressing issues residents face, according to the recent 20th meeting of the Standing Committee of the sixth Taizhou Municipal People's Congress.
Regarding caring for older people and children, Taizhou has improved the inclusive childcare service system by adding 12 inclusive childcare institutions with 700 childcare slots. To improve the living and learning environment for children without guardianship, 121 Dream Houses have been built, benefiting 123 children. Additionally, 162 summer nursery camps have been established, serving 5,728 youths.
Taizhou has increased efforts in housing security by providing 19,100 sets of affordable rental housing. The living environment in old residential areas has been improved by renovating 46 communities. Measures to eliminate urban waterlogging risks include constructing and renovating 24 kilometers of rainwater pipelines.
Furthermore, the city has completed the construction of 19 smart towns (sub-districts), offered 378 cultural performances, built six sports parks (squares) and 30 kilometers of fitness trails, and opened 12 sports venues to the public for free or at low cost.
