Taizhou unveiled part of its development blueprint for the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30) on June 24, outlining priorities to strengthen advanced manufacturing, foster future industries, and enhance transport connectivity.

At a press conference held by the Information Office of Taizhou Municipal Government, officials introduced the city's development goals and key tasks.

Vice-Mayor Qin Meng said manufacturing remains the cornerstone of Taizhou's economy and a key driver of long-term resilience. The city will continue to pursue intelligent, green and integrated industrial development, with the goal of raising the added value of the health industry to 12 percent of GDP by 2030.

Taizhou also aims to build stronger industrial clusters, targeting total output values of more than 100 billion yuan ($14.71 billion) for its offshore engineering equipment and shipbuilding cluster, and over 600 billion yuan for its emerging industries by the end of the decade.

To reinforce its economic resilience, the city will deepen the integration of industrial and innovation resources. Over the next five years, Taizhou plans to strengthen regional innovation collaboration and attract high-quality scientific and technological resources from outside the city. The initiative is expected to accelerate the flow of talent, technology and capital across the innovation ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Taizhou has identified artificial intelligence, including embodied AI, synthetic biology and next-generation energy storage as three priority future industries.

Taizhou is also planning major investments in transport infrastructure. Qian Jun, director of the Taizhou Transport Bureau, said 2026-30 will be a decisive period in building the city into a regional transportation hub. The city plans to invest more than 100 billion yuan in transport projects, with the goal of achieving closer connectivity with Shanghai and southern Jiangsu.
